What does that mean to you? Does it mean you have to keep all the laws and focus on doing good and living the way the Bible tells you to live?

This is one way to approach this verse but it will lead to discouragement, a sense of religion, and many other undesirable things.

What did Jesus sum up all the law and what the prophets told you? We covered this a few days ago…

Mark 12:30 ESV “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’”

Matthew 22:40 ESV “On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”

I put Mark 12:30 here instead of Matthew 22:38-29 because I really like that the word strength is in this passage but they say, essentially, the same thing. Love Me with everything you have. Matthew 22:40 shares with you that if you love Me and then also love yourself and your neighbor you are able to do the very things that fulfill the Law and the Prophets.

Flip your focus upside down. Rather than focusing on doing everything right, figuring out what you need to do and doing it…focus first on loving Me. Then focus on loving yourself (it will come fairly naturally when you focus on loving Me because you will start seeing yourself as I see you) and then loving your neighbors.

What do you want in life?

The first thing to do is to love Me. Just love Me. Don’t try to satisfy Me or do what I want you to do….love Me. When you don’t know what to do…love Me. When you have questions about a situation…love Me. When you are worried or anxious about something…love Me.

In today’s verse it talks about keeping My Word. My word, distilled into 2 sentences, starts with loving Me with everything you have and everything you are.

Do not love the way you want things to be…love Me. From there the rest of the verse above naturally flows. When you simply love Me, you will find that you naturally keep My Word and you will also find that as you love Me more and more, My love is perfected within you.

This also is actually backward also but I know human beings need something to focus on that they can do so that is what I am giving you but the truth and the most powerful thing in the world you can do is to receive the love I have for you and let it completely transform you. You do this by loving Me.

1 John 4:19 ESV “We love because he first loved us.”

The only way you can truly love is to first allow Me to love you. Then you can love Me and it creates a cycle that deepens our love for one another and then you begin to see all the things from the verses over the last day happen. You see yourself walking in the same way that I walk. You see yourself keeping My commandments and you see that you are keeping My word but the ultimate “goal” for you is to be loved by Me and to love Me back. All else will flow over from here.

I believe this is a message to us from God, written from His perspective – Sherri

© 2026 Spirit Centered Healing Arts – All Rights Reserved

Spirit Centered Healing Arts is a crowdfunded nonprofit ministry.
