Acts 2:3 BSB \u201cThey saw tongues like flames of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

People normally read this to be flames of fire resting on each of them but look more carefully, it is tongues LIKE flames of fire. Think about this for a moment. What would this look like: tongues \u2013 languages \u2013 fire. How do they go together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consider also:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

James 3:5 AMP \u201cIn the same sense, the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things. See [by comparison] how great a forest is set on fire by a small spark!\u201c<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you keep reading in James, you will see that the tongue can be used to bless God or curse man who is made in the likeness of God (James 3:9).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Think about this carefully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the tongues came down from heaven, like flames of fire, the disciples were set on fire for the gospel. They spoke like never before, they were bold in ways they never experienced, even when Jesus walked with them. They were set on fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People ask Me to baptize them by fire. Do you really know what this means? Do you know what will happen to you if I do this? When My tongue comes down from heaven to light you on fire and speaks through you, you will find your desire for your own life to decrease significantly. You will choose to use your tongue to speak the truth, My truth. It will no longer be able to be used to curse men who are made in My likeness because it will be like a spark\u2026setting the forest on fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
