When we pray for God\u2019s healing, He does so much more than we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). He knows the heart of the people involved and has deeper plans than we can know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This became so clear to me as I prayed, daily, for a friend whose family was inundated by health problems and had been for years. After working directly with this family for a couple of sessions God asked me to pray an hour a day for them because the battle was simply too much for them at this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Each day I read a Psalm three times, starting with Psalm 1. Each time I read the Psalm I asked Him to reveal a specific verse upon which to focus the prayer. Each run through brought a different verse and a different, and often deeper focus. On approximately Day 16 I received a text that one of the family members was in the hospital with a serious reaction to a surgery performed a few days earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My prayers for a quick recovery and immediate healing were held back. I was not to pray this yet. This healing was spiritual\u2026not physical. The only prayers I have been able to pray is for Jesus to be in the room with this person, experiencing Him, knowing Him, feeling Him and seeing Him fully as He truly is. This is the healing that God desires. There is something much more powerful going on than just a physical illness and Jesus wants to heal the whole person, not just the body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is a really hard road and so scary for the family and I am praying for God to be with each of them, holding them close. It is clear that an opportunity is being given to this person to reevaluate his beliefs and priorities as he explores the truth that life is short and there is a lot more going on than we think or know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Have you been praying for healing for someone for a long time and not receiving the results you desire? May I suggest that you take a step back and ask God if He is doing something beyond the healing for which you are asking? He may say no, and that you can continue to pray the prayers you have been praying, or He may give you another prayer strategy and an alternate way to encourage the person for who you are praying. Don\u2019t stop praying though! Your prayers are powerful and Jesus will adjust them so they are perfect before they get to God (Romans 8:26-27)! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
