Joshua 1:17 ESV “Just as we obeyed Moses in all things, so we will obey you. Only may the Lord your God be with you, as he was with Moses!”
Isn’t this an interesting statement from the Israelites? They say they obeyed Moses in all things. Their memory in this area is different than mine and I believe the Bible supports My point of view.
Their thinking is limited. It assumes they are able to obey all that is requested of them by Me through Moses but the truth is that I requested very little of the Israelites because I knew they could not handle it and so I held back to allow them not to fail miserably.
It is really important for you to recognize what you can do on your own and what you need help with. The Israelites overestimated their capability to walk into the impossible with Joshua. If they had recognized this, they could have asked Me for more help and I would have provided it but, I do not tend to help when people do not want My help.
Think how much more I could have done with and for the Israelites if they had humbled themselves, recognizing they are human beings functioning in a huge spiritual universe, and asked for help…setting their sites higher than what they could do on their own.
How much more can you accomplish? How much more would you like to accomplish? You have a greatness placed inside of you by Me that wants to come alive even more than it currently is. The key is that you need Me to do 99% of the work and you do 1% of the work and we call it all good. It is not about who does what, it is about the relationship we develop as we do it together. It isn’t even reaching a goal, although I know that most of you reading this like to achieve goals and so I love doing that with you!
Be honest with yourself about what you can do on your own and what you need My help with. Better yet, let’s just do everything together just as you would with a best friend who you simply enjoy hanging out with.
