Luke 19:21 ESV “for I was afraid of you, because you are a severe man. You take what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.”
This is found in the story of 10 Minas and there is so much valuable information in this parable it is worth deeper study but there is a very beneficial learning from this verse alone.
This person, who took the Mina and did nothing with them because he was afraid of Me revealed the truth of his heart. He was afraid of Me and so he behaved accordingly and in a stingy way and so his expectations came to pass.
Do you believe I am a good God who will provide for your every need?
Do you believe I am a demanding God who has high expectations for you but will reward you greatly for all that you do for the Kingdom?
Do you believe I am a harsh God and I will take what you do not believe should belong to Me?
What do you believe about Me? Do you find that what you experience follows what you believe about Me?
Do this experiment.
Remembering all that is said about Me in the Hebrew Scriptures (aka the Old Testament), now that My words are true. My wrath is real and you want to avoid it. My promises and generosity are real and you want to experience it. Know that I am a hard God to those who see Me only as hard and I am a generous God to those who recognize that I have very high standards but I also have a very high standard of care for My people. From this place of fully knowing who I am, love Me with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30). Love Me no matter what is said about Me. Love Me even when you are afraid of loving Me. Love Me when you aren’t sure if you can trust Me or not fully. We can work through all of those things if you simply allow yourself to fall into the true and mighty presence of the almighty God.
From this place of love, you will see Me in a new light and you will find that what you have multiplies in truly amazing ways. Yes, I have high standards but that does not mean you need to be afraid of Me and you do not need to resist My leadership. Yes, My wrath will fall upon all who are not under the protection I have offered and provided for all. Yes, My blessings will fall upon those whose hearts are blameless toward Me (2 Chronicles 16:9).
Love Me, even through the questions you have about Me and know that I am good…really good and let that show up in your reality!
