Jeremiah 7:23 ESV “But this command I gave them: ‘Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people. And walk in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.’”
When you hear this what do you focus on?
Is it the commands?
Is it that all may be well with you?
Is it that I will be your God and you will be My people?
Yes, the commands are important and when you do as I ask then things may be well with you simply because when you accept that there are laws of how this creation works you realize that if you follow those laws then you find that things go better with you.
It is like traffic laws. If you follow traffic laws things tend to go better for you when you drive. If you don’t follow them you may or may not get caught every time but at some point, most likely you will, and you will get a ticket. Also, when you don’t follow traffic laws you are not driving as safely and so the risk of an accident are higher. It is not that the police officers are trying to control you or be mean, they are simply enforcing laws that have been put into place to keep you and others safe.
That is all I am doing with My commands…giving you the framework within which you can choose to live and work and have things go better for you and those around you.
If you feel a sense of rebellion, that’s okay. It’s just the enemy trying to make your life worse than it can be…resist Him, forgive yourself for feeling rebellious and then choose to do the right thing. It will go well for you.
