2 Timothy 4:17 NLT “God uses [Scripture] to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.”
Day 5 of a 12-part series: Clearly knowing your specific purpose.
As I said yesterday, I use Scripture to share with you the very good works I have set aside for you to do. I know most of you are very busy with life and don’t have time to sit with Me for hours to gain guidance. I know the reality of your days, and I know how to work around them. I am not asking for hours and hours and hours from most of you (some of you I am but you know who you are).
All I am asking is that, when you have a question, take a moment to ask for My guidance and direction. Read My word, even if it is a single verse, at the beginning of the day, or whenever you can fit it into your busy schedule, and then let that verse inform the remainder of your day and the choices you make throughout it. This does 2 things:
- Allows Me to communicate with you.
- Puts your attention on Me as you work through what appear to be your problems but are actually Mine.
When you consider Scripture and ask Me for help with what you face you move into the posture of each problem, challenge and opportunity actually being Mine and you connect them with Me and with the spiritual forces at work on your behalf. Whether you get a direct answer through the Scripture or simply recognize that the question you are asking will be answered by Me you have gained great things.
Of course, remember the 2 most important parts of all that you are doing during this 12-part series:
- Love Me with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30).
- All of your problems are actually My problems and I will handle them.
It sounds simplistic but it is not. Loving Me with all of you will actually change your life. Recognizing that you don’t have a single problem that is yours and not Mine will take all the pressure off so that you can live the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians :22-23) in your day to day life.
