Mark 11:24 ESV “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”
This verse messes with a lot of people because they think that if they do not receive something they did not believe enough. But…there is a lot more to this verse than meets the eye.
First of all, I will never give you something that is not good for you.
Second, I will never give you something that will cause something else to become a replacement for Me – because I am much better than anything else and so I don’t want other things to get in the way of us. I will wait until I am in the right spot in your life, filling in the “space” that you think something else will fill and then I will most likely give you what you asked for if it is still something you want.
Third, I will rarely give you something that you think you want but don’t actually want because what you truly want is buried beneath what you think you want. Instead, I will wait until you figure out what you actually want. Sometimes I will give you a part of what you think you want so that you can figure out it is not what you want and then we can go deeper into what you truly want so you can ask for that.
When you are asking for something, yes, believe it and know that I will give you what you ask for or something better! Allow Me to show you more about what we are doing in your heart and in your life and then you will see more clearly how I am answering your prayers.
