Psalm 92:9 ESV “For behold, your enemies, O LORD, for behold, your enemies shall perish; all evildoers shall be scattered.”
I know that with all the evil you see in the world you question whether this will happen but believe Me…it will…sooner than you might think.
Live your life accordingly. I will bring all evil to be scattered and to perish. They will see their own destruction, even as they laugh haughtily thinking they have won.
Look at your own life and make sure there is no evil in it. This is how you can cause evil to scatter and to see your enemies perish. It is easy to look at others and see what they are doing wrong and then give yourself a ‘buy’ for your own sin, your own evil, your own mistakes. So switch it around.
Without beating yourself up and without putting yourself at the center of attention all of the time (because that leads to selfish ambition which is also not a good thing either (Philippians 2:3)), look at the evil in your own heart and your own life and make changes around that.
Here are a couple of possible examples:
- Do you gossip or speak badly of other people? Do you talk to other people about things that, if it was you, you would want them to be private?
- Do you hoard money and trust it when you are afraid or uncertain in life?
- Are you generous with your time, attention, love, and money?
- Do you harden your heart toward the ills and the evils of this world or do you allow your heart to remain soft to those in need, even if you cannot do anything to help them?
- Do you judge other people and sometimes do it because it makes you feel better about yourself?
- Do you put yourself first when others have needs also?
- Do you put your trust in your money, possessions, or abilities rather than Me?
Of course you do some of these things and of course I still love you tremendously. I am not trying to get you to be upset or angry at yourself or to feel bad. Instead, I am saying that, when you see evil in this world and want so badly to do something about it and yet you feel powerless, know that you are not powerless at all. You have a great deal of power over yourself.
Stop letting yourself off the mat when you are holding others onto the mat….or put another way…
Matthew 7:5 ESV “…first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.”
Taking this approach will actually help you feel like you are able to do something to make a difference in this world!
Prayer:
Lord, I know that I make mistakes and that I have many thoughts and speak many words that do not glorify You and do not follow what You ask of me. What You ask of me is impossible, of course, but with You all things are possible. I come, first, to You and then to myself. Please help Me make the changes that You want me to make…that I also want to make because I want to honor and glorify You and receive all of the blessings that are available in this world today. Thank You Lord for helping me!
Amen
