Psalm 91:2 ESV “I will say to the LORD, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Can you say that about Me?
No judgement, no condemnation, no trying to be something you aren’t….can you really say this about Me?
Am I your refuge? Am I the One you go to when things are not going well? Am I the One who you go to when you are struggling? Am I the One you go to when you need more than you have? Am I the One that you go to first or do you come to Me once you have tried a few other things.
Again, no condemnation or judgement, just a question. It is for self reflection, not for My benefit. I already know.
There is so much that I share in this Psalm…so many promises that I make to you.
Verse 3 – I will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from deadly pestilence.
Verse 4 – I will cover you with My pinions
Verse 5 – You will not fear
Verse 7 – Even as others fall beside you, you will not fall
But look what is important for you in order to experience these things:
Verse 9 “Because you have made the LORD your dwelling place – the Most High, who is my refuge”
It is not reasonable for you or anyone else to be mad at Me for not protecting them or taking care of them when they have not done their part. A lot of people choose not to believe in Me because bad things happened to them in their lives but, when they are honest with themselves they realize that I was right there with them and sometimes they chose a different path than I suggested for them. This causes difficulties in faith but there is an easy answer.
Stay close to Me.
Believe that I am real and I am all that I say I am.
Let go of all the objections you have, whether they are because of what has or hasn’t happened in your life or because of what people did or did not do.
This world is not perfect!
We need to accept that and work within it.
There is sin.
There is really bad stuff.
That doesn’t mean that you should not believe in Me. It means that you should believe in Me even more and help those around you believe in Me too. That is where you find perfection and goodness – in Me.
Let’s not kid ourselves. There is opposition to Me in this world and that causes terrible things but…waiting for those things to improve before you truly dedicate yourself to Me simply prolongs the agony.
Instead, make Me your refuge and your strength. Believe in Me fully and completely. Stake your life on the truth that I am real, that I am full of joy and blessing for you and that I want good things for you and for the entire world. Stake your life on it and live accordingly and invoke these powers that I tell you about in this Psalm.
I am your refuge and your fortress, your God in whom you are welcome to trust!
Prayer:
Dear Lord,
I want you to be my refuge and fortress and I want to trust You completely. Please help me do this today in every aspect of my life. Help me trust You even more than I know how.
Thank You Lord!
Amen
