Matthew 3:14 NASB “But John (the Baptist) tried to prevent Him, saying, ‘I have the need to be baptized by You, and yet You are coming to me?’”
Do you know how you can tell that you are walking in the anointing that I have given to you?
There is one simple way to determine it.
It can take some time filled with obedience and patience to get to this point; however, it comes quickly when you study your identity in Christ.
When what I tell you about yourself and what I ask you to do seems “arrogant” or “too much” or it seems like I am exalting you far beyond what you believe is right for a human being.
This is how you can tell you are walking in My path for you.
John the Baptist ran into this when Jesus asked him to baptize Him.
The Disciples experienced it when I asked them to go out into the world and they were told to shake off the dust on their feet as a testimony against them if they were not received by them and they cast out demons and healed the sick (Mark 6:7-12).
Peter reacted very strongly to this when Jesus is washing his feet (John 13:8).
In each case the disciples felt that I was exalting and expecting too much of them. I was diminishing the line of authority and power that exists between us and I was causing human beings to be “too big for their britches”, elevating them to the level of gods.
Yes, it is essential to recognize that I am God and to fear me. So many people refuse to fear Me and that is also a problem but if you fear Me then I will exalt you to the highest level possible.
Fear Me, love Me, and then obey Me and do all that I ask of you, even if it seems as preposterous as John the Baptist, a “mere” human being, baptizing God.
