Revelation 21:20 ESV “the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst.”
What a strange verse for Me to choose as the daily verse today! What relevance does this have to anything.
This verse is in reference to a wall that is being measured in the new Jerusalem.
The wall is 144 cubits (65.8368 Meters or 2592 feet) and its foundation is made of every type of jewel…some of which are listed above.
Do you ever wonder whether I am ornate or simple?
Do you ever wonder if I prefer gorgeous cathedrals filled with stained glass and artwork or if I prefer the poverty worn walls of a convent?
When you think of heaven, when you read about the New Jerusalem, do you see glorious and generous or do you see poverty and worn out?
I am not criticizing those who choose a simple life. I am not saying they are doing something wrong. I am saying that the glory of heaven is filled with gold and jewels and riches. Therefore, it is not a bad thing to experience those here.
It is the love of money, the love of jewels, the love of riches and the dependence upon them that I am against.
All of the glory in heaven is there to compliment Me. Imagine a beautiful woman who walks into a ballroom with a beautiful dress and a necklace made of diamonds and rubies. Do you look at the dress and rubies in awe or do you look at the woman and appreciate that her beauty has been accentuated by the ornate dress and necklace.
If your answer is the dress and the necklace then it means that wealth and possessions are taking precedence in your life. If you answer the woman then it means that you are focusing on My creation and accepting the fact that I give good gifts to people who want to glorify Me.
I do not give you wealth, houses, cars, clothes, jewelry for you to focus on them. I give them to you because they accentuate the already beautiful and glorious life that you have.
Those who choose to live in poverty are demonstrating that they are 100% beautiful without any of the adornments and they want to keep their eyes on Me rather than risk being pulled away by the love of riches or wealth. This is a formidable calling for some.
When you see the glory of nature do you focus on the nature or to you see it as a beautiful adornment that accentuates who I am?
This also shares with you something about how you see and believe in Me. If you believe nature is a thing in and of itself to be worshipped and glorified then you are missing the point that it is there to reveal and accentuate the truth of Me. Nature is like My diamond and ruby necklace. Mountains with snow capped peaks are likened to a beautiful tiara on the head of the most beautiful woman you have ever seen. The mountains are not the thing to be looking at, they point to Me and to My beauty and majesty.
The power that you feel within the mountains is not a power in and of itself…it is the power that is representing Me. Tap into it and find the power you truly seek. You will find Me.
