February 12 – Daily Message – John 3:18

John 3:18 ESV “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.”

Some things are really hard to talk about! Condemnation is one of them, and so is sin, but if they are understood correctly they are very easy to talk about.

How do we understand them correctly?

If you come from a place of love, deep love, sacrificial love, the love that a parent has for their child love. This is where I come from whenever I talk about condemnation or sin. I never come from a place of judgement or hatred. I never come from a place of shame or discouragement. If that is the voice you hear when you hear about condemnation or sin that is the wrong voice to listen to for sure!

Imagine condemnation or sin being discussed from a loving parent with their 2 year old child. The child has made a mistake. The mistake can be something they did as they attempted to learn how to do something which is simply learning. There is no condemnation in it there is only helping them see the right way to do something so they can do better in the future.

For example. If a child is learning to multiply numbers and you ask them what 8 X 7 is and they say 45 it is not condemning to say “that is not the correct answer”. You are simply letting them know that they made a mistake. Did they sin? Are they condemned? Well, they can take it that way if they have a history of being shamed when they make a mistake. They can assume you hate them if they have already learned to be very hard on themselves when they make an error…or they can simply say…”thanks for letting me know my answer is wrong…I’ll try again.”

However, if you have told your child not to run out in the street and, out of rebellion, they look at you as they near the street and give a look of defiance, waiting for you to tell them not to go into the street, and then they turn and run into the street, then you have a completely different matter to deal with. Then they are being rebellious and it is sin. However, you have to understand the underlying motive behind it. If the child is not able to handle their emotions and they are trying to get you to pay attention to them when you are busy doing something else or if they are running into the street because they are sad because you are leaving and they want you to stay then…that is different all together.

That is so important to understand with condemnation and sin!

When My children turn their backs on Me, I always work with them and find the reason for them turning their backs on Me. I always work with them on it. I do not condemn, however, when they do things that are very bad or dangerous, like running out into the street when they have been told not to, they are condemning themselves. They are putting themselves in danger that is not necessary and as this verse says they are already condemned.

If you simply look at the facts of the situation…regardless of what you believe….

  1. I created the world
  2. Sin entered into the world
  3. I sent Jesus to handle the sin issue. He died, taking all the sin of the world onto Him and then was resurrected showing sin has no power over Him.
  4. You are invited to believe that this is true and be completely free of all sin.

It’s a pretty sweet deal if you think about it. All you have to do is believe in Jesus and what He did (which is the truth and not some made up story to try to control or limit you in some way) and you are freed from all the sin and death that have done such damage to the creation.

It’s really simple actually.

Of course, you may be saying…”well I don’t believe that”…which is fine but if you don’t believe in gravity and you try to survive the world you will find it much more difficult.

I cannot change what is true in order to have it align with what you believe or are comfortable with…but I can love you no matter what and continue to work through it with you as you make your decision. You have free will and I will never take that away from you. I feel so strongly about that and it is what this world is based upon so I will not change it, even if that means I have to lose some of My children because of it…but in the end, I don’t lose any of My children.

So…do not stand condemned and do not hold onto any sin or any effects of sin.

Instead…simply believe what is true, be reconnected with Me fully and completely, and follow Me. It is so much more fun that way than anything else you could ever imagine. Don’t believe anyone if they tell you any differently! If they do, they are living a different truth that does not align with Mine. My Kingdom is better than anything else out there. Come join Me in it. You won’t regret it.

So, now when you think about sin and condemnation you can know that it is a simply matter of truth and facts without any shame or judgement and you can simply sluff off any condemnation or sin by simply believing in Jesus and it will all be taken care of.

It is as simple as that!

Really!
