John 14:16-17a GWT “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another helper who will be with you forever. That helper is the Spirit of Truth.”
This is the culmination of a 5-day journey in a very important and powerful section of verses. I encourage you to read all 5 because they all go together and build in power together.
All that I have shared with you over the last 4 days hinges on this verse…Jesus asks Me to give you a helper. This helper will never leave you. The helper can only function within truth.
Do not try to do anything in this world on your own strength and power unless you want what you do to be limited to the strength and power available to you. You cannot do mighty and heavenly things from the power that you have. You need My power to do the great and mighty things I have shared with you that you will do. The dreams, the desires in your heart…they are bigger than you are and you need a helper.
Do not be like a 2-year-old who refuses help because they want to prove they can do something minor and small on their own. Yes, I want you to be able to do many things and I don’t ever want to take away from the fun and enjoyment you have of doing them, but when you involved Me and take the help from the helper, you are able to do exponentially more than you can ask or imaging (Ephesians 3:20) so open yourself to the Spirit. Give Me permission to work in your life in every aspect (because you have free will and I require your permission to work powerfully and completely), and flow in My Will. This is when you can ask for the most outrageous and powerful things and find that they happen…because you are asking for what aligns with the truth and Will of the Lord. This is a powerful place to walk and to live and you will find that what you ask for is good for you, others, and Me all at the same time.
When your requests hurt someone else or take something away from them in order to satisfy them, you will find that they are not very powerful but when you are healed from all brokenness and are walking in the new creation that you are when you receive Jesus as your savior, you will find that you no longer want anyone else to be less than or harmed in order for your own needs to be satisfied. It will become much easier to put other people’s needs ahead of yourself (Philippians 2:3), which actually leads to your own needs being met in a much more satisfying way.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for all the clarification You have provided in these verses. My greatest hope is to believe in and love You so that all else will fall into place. I give You permission to work in my life, in any area, so that Your Wisdom and Life may flow through me wonderfully and powerfully.
