Psalm 25:1 AMP “To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul. O my God, in You I [have unwavering] trust [and I rely on You with steadfast confidence],
This is a continuation from the past 2 days which I highly recommend that you read.
For today, reading a larger passage is really helpful for this discussion:
Psalm 25:1-7 AMP “To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul.
O my God, in You I [have unwavering] trust [and I rely on You with steadfast confidence],
Do not let me be ashamed or my hope in You be disappointed;
Do not let my enemies triumph over me.
Indeed, none of those who [expectantly] wait for You will be ashamed;
Those who turn away from what is right and deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed (humiliated, embarrassed).
Let me know Your ways, O LORD;
Teach me Your paths.
Guide me in Your truth and teach me,
For You are the God of my salvation;
For You [and only You] I wait [expectantly] all the day long.
Remember, O LORD, Your [tender] compassion and Your lovingkindnesses,
For they have been from of old.
Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
According to Your lovingkindness remember me,
For Your goodness’ sake, O LORD.”
Look at the first sentence – “in You I have unwavering trust” and “steadfast confidence”.
Now we move on to the shame aspect. The Psalmist asks that I never allow them to be put to shame or be disappointed in Me. The Psalmist asks for things to go well in their life.
The Psalmist recognizes that when people turn away from what is right and deal treacherously they will be humiliated or embarrassed. The Psalmist wants to avoid this outcome and asks Me to teach them their path and to guide in truth.
Then the Psalmist remembers who I am
Of course, I do not need to be reminded of my compassion and lovingkindness. I don’t need to be reminded that I provide salvation and that I need to forget the sin or the Psalmist’s youth. That is more for the Psalmists benefit.
But look at this…
Are you dealing treacherously with anyone? Have you turned away from doing what is right?
Then it is normal for you to feel ashamed but the solution is quick and easy….turn to Me and ask My help. Ask Me to forgive you and ask all that you have harmed to forgive you and make it right (as long as it will not cause additional hurt or damage).
Then, you are no longer in the category of those who need to feel shame and you can find My love and support and the truth of My words instead. Of course, even when you are acting shamefully I will love you, it is like a child who makes bad choices. No matter the choices they make, you love them, but you don’t like or support their choices so you allow the consequences to teach them what needs to be taught and as soon as they repent your relationship is restored.
If you feel any shame, know that it is not the right thing because I tell you that you will not be put to shame. There is another reason for it. Either:
- You are doing something that is shameful and the shame is there to help you decide to stop.
- You are believing what other people say or what you think they say about you instead of what I say about you.
- You are believing your own doubts and words about yourself rather than mine.
There is a gym that has these words on some of their machined “No critics”. Can you follow that for yourself as well as for others? Can you be your own best supporter rather than your worst critic? Better yet, can you let Me be your best supporter. I am really good at it if you will let Me. Sometimes it may be hard for you to believe because I say such wonderful things about you but…My words are true!
Come to Me and I will show you how good life can be when you listen to what I say about you instead of what this world or others say about you….and know that I am right!!!
