John 17:23 NLT “I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.”
I know there are many things happening in the world that are causing people to wonder if I love them or even if I am a loving God. Much of what is happening is due to two factors:
- There is a real enemy that is attempting to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10) and people do not know that they need to come to Me for protection. There is a lot of protection I provide but I gave each person free will and if they choose or ask Me not to be involved in their life then I honor that, but My protection is also lost.
- There are consequences to the choices that are made. My grace is always more powerful than consequences but, again, as is true in point number 1 because of free will I honor the choices and the decisions that are made and I give people “space” if they want that from Me. Again, that allows for an opening in your protection and in the protection of others and it reduces My ability to bless you if you do not want the blessing from Me.
But look at this verse also:
John 19:2 NLT “The soldiers wove a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and they put a purple robe on him.”
Jesus, who is Me in the flesh, could have risen up at any moment and stopped what was being done to Him. He could have refused the crown of thorns designed to hurt, antagonize and mock Him and He would have walked away from it all but…He knew that if He did that then He would not be able to demonstrate the fullness of His love for you through his death and resurrection.
When you wonder all the things you wonder like whether the creation story is possible, or whether hell exists, or why a loving God would send people to hell please put more emphasis on what you see here in John 19:2. Because of sin, hell becomes the default and yet, this is not where I want a single person to go. I do not want a single one of My creation to be lost to the enemy or the darkness or the rebellion. I want every single one of My people, My children, My very loved and individually foreseen and uniquely created people to come to Me.
As you imagine Jesus holding back all of His power, all of My power, as people mocked, hit, and tortured Him, see that He is doing that for you and for every single person in this world. His love is greater than any evil and any darkness. Focus on the love that He showed and the great sacrifice He made for you and let go of the petty or insignificant things that really do not matter when you realize the greatness of the life that He has for you and wants to live in you.
It is a powerful way to live. Don’t worry about what your neighbor thinks or what your other family members are doing, be solid in your faith and in your belief in Me and let Me work out all the rest. Know that I am good and I will not allow a single one of My children to suffer for all eternity just because they didn’t know Me. I will make sure each and every person in the world knows Me in some form or fashion so that they have equal opportunity to experience eternal life with Me. Let Me handle that. You…. simply focus on the life I offer you. I’ll take care of the rest.
All the bad that happens in the world is a result of each person who makes a choice to ignore or discount the love and life I have available to them. So do your part. Turn to Me and allow Me to love you like you have never been loved before and then we can find a way to reach each and every other person in the world.
