April 18 – Daily Message – Luke 13:34a

Luke 13:34a ESV “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it!

Someone once asked Me why I am not sending prophets like I sent in the day of Amos or Zechariah or Jeremiah? My answer was that I have already sent them and what I said to the nations at that time still applies to the nations at this time.

But what I did not mention at that time was that I am tired of watching My prophets suffer and die at the hands of people who are supposed to embrace and love and appreciate them.

People only want to hear what they want to hear and when a prophet says something they don’t want to hear they discount the prophet, they say that the prophet cannot hear Me accurately and they turn away.

How often do you hear prophets, prophesy, or the prophetic ridiculed from the pulpit?

And yet, I specifically encourage everyone to seek spiritual gifts, especially prophecy (1 Corinthians 14:1). Some people say “everyone can hear God so we don’t need the prophets” but this is like saying “everyone can do math, so we don’t need any accountants or mathematicians”

The real, underlying issue is that people don’t actually want to hear what I want to say.

If you run into a prophet, I want you to seek them our to honor them, sit at their feet and explore what they are saying. Everyone wants to be in My presence, know Me better, experience My blessings, experience the supernatural so…stop rejecting the people who stand in My presence and hear My words. Seek out the people who experience supernatural experiences and walk in the strange and unknown with them, honoring the amazing gifts I have given them. Let it be something that is glorified and not torn down as strange or unusual.

Do you have any idea how much I want to bless you through all means including My prophets?

I will withhold them if they are not treated well. Enough have been killed for My sake and for My words but if they are appreciated, imagine what could be shared. Imagine exciting adventures and mysteries.

Rather than treating My closest people as strange and unusual, trying to make sense of them…recognize that they have been put in a very strange place I this world where they really don’t fit and they really don’t feel that they belong. It is a very uncomfortable place for them to be so do your part to make it easier for them by appreciating them and when they make a mistake, forgive them and do not shun them and hold them at arm’s length. They, too, are human, and this world is extremely difficult for them to navigate.

As was true in Elisha’s day…the people who sent their people to Elisha, who honored him and supported him physically and financially, the ones who sat at his feet and listened to him…the ones that invited him to dinner and to work with them…those were the ones I blessed the most greatly in that time.

I believe this is a message to us from God, written from His perspective – Sherri
