Revelation 17:8 ESV “…the beast, because it was and is not and Is to come.”
Many people focus on the beast as they read this passage, but I want to point something else out. Something you already know but may not have thought of.
Notice how the beast was, and is to come but is not now?
This is very important.
When I tell you to pay attention to today and not live for tomorrow there is a very good reason.
When I say:
Matthew 6:11 ESV “Give us this day our daily bread” (ie, pay attention to what is happening today, in this moment)
Matthew 6:34 NIV “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.”
I am sharing with you this great mystery. How can the beast be in the past and the future and not now? This is the very important part.
When you worry and are anxious do you tend to be present right now, or are you focusing on the past or the future? This is why there is so much talk about the peace that exists in the present.
The beast, satan, worry, anxiety…demons know very clearly that if they keep you in the past or in the future then you are not a danger to them because nothing can actually be accomplished in the past or the future. Yes, you can travel through time in prayer and change the outcome of past or future events, but you are doing that from the present moment and not from the past or the future.
Know this really carefully…the beast (i.e., darkness, evil, the satan) exist in the past and the future but their power is significantly diminished in the present, particularly if you are walking with Me in this moment.
So, yes, notice things from the past that need to be healed, repented of, or worked through with other people, and take care of those things so that they no longer impact your present. Yes, pay attention to planning for the future so that you are wise, but do not live in the past or the future. Pay attention to what you need to learn from the past, and foresee what you will need in the future and then do things right now that will impact them…but then, focus 98.5% or more of your time on being in the present, with Me, right now….in My love.
This is also why I emphasize loving Me so much and loving others so much. When you love you tend to be in the present!
