Jonah 4:11 NLT “This change of plans greatly upset Jonah, and he became very angry.”
Are you angry with Me about something?
When I change something and focus on something other than your desires or your plans do you get frustrated with Me?
Jonah was mad at Me because he realized that he was not in control. I sent him to Ninevah – he went the other way and I sent a storm and a fish and forced My agenda on him. He submitted and went to Ninevah and then did what I said and, because the people repented, the tragedy that would have befallen them did not. Jonah was angry because he thought it lessened his stature or value as a prophet.
But do you see the problem?
It isn’t that I changed My mind and relented.
It isn’t that I didn’t destroy the Ninevites.
No, it was because Jonah realized that he was not in control of His life and that really bothered him.
This is the primary reason for anger against Me within this world. It is because something happens and you don’t like it because it hurts or causes suffering or it does not support the life that you want to be living. But please notice this. Because I was heavy handed with Jonah…requiring him to go speak to the people of Ninevah…an entire town was saved…even if only temporarily. So many souls were saved because of what I required of Jonah.
Trust Me please. Trust Me beyond belief. Trust Me more than you think you can. Trust Me beyond what you understand (Proverbs 3:5). Really terrible and tragic things happen in this world. Some is due to sin, some is due to protection, some it due to evil but I am God and I bring good out of all things for those who love Me and are called according to My purpose (Romans 8:28). So be on the side of things where everything turns to good no matter what it is by simply loving Me with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:31) and by being called according to My purpose.
Lay down your own purpose and take up Mine instead. It will be so good for you and for everyone around you. Sure, it may look different from what you expect but it might just look better and not worse! Give it a try. Not for a moment or for a week but for a long time. Give it a couple of years and see what changes in your life.
