Proverbs 13:12 ESV “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.”
As you await the desires of your heart know that I see and hear and feel the desires even more than you do.
This verse tells you why it is so incredibly difficult when you have a dream and it has not yet come to fruition. Your hope is deferred and you try to make sense of it but you cannot make sense of it. It simply hurts.
It is like a broken heart. When you are in love with someone and it becomes clear that they are not the person I have chosen for you and you part ways it simply hurts. Your heart is broken because that person is no longer filling the space they were filling but that is only a small part of it. The greater part is that the hope you had for the relationships, for your future, and for your life has been deferred and it simply hurts. Your heart feels sick.
This is what is happening to you right now as you read this…dealing with something that is not full or complete yet. The hope that you have is deferred and your heart feels sick. You try very hard to focus on the second part of the verse ‘but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life’ and you try so hard to look forward to a time when you feel fulfilled and as though you are eating from the tree of life.
There is no way around this verse. It is simply true. There is no faster way through the heartbreak. There is no faster way through the valley of the shadow of death. Put your hope in Me. Love Me. Know that I am good. Allow Me to prune all that needs pruning and know that I am for you and not against you. I have great plans for you (Jeremiah 29:11). You are My beloved child and it breaks My heart to see your heart broken. I know that your heart feels sick. I know you are often scared and concerned about what is going to happen or not happen. I know that you don’t even know what you want sometimes. But what I also know is that I am your God and I love you and My love is powerful and complete. It does not fail. My love never fails.
Many things in this world will fail but My love never fails.
Be honest with yourself about what you want and seek that. Hope in Me and I will not fail you!
