Colossians 1:1 ESV “This letter is from Paul, chosen by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and from our brother Timothy.”
What have you been chosen by the will of God to be?
Lay down your life a living sacrifice and be who you have been called to be. Let go of striving after what will make this world a better place and strive for what will make this eternal life better. You are uniquely qualified to do something for the Kingdom of Heaven and it may or may not feel like what you desire fully and yet somewhere inside it is exactly what you want.
Stop being tossed back and forth but accept the maturity of faith that I have given you. Stop trying to satisfy your desires and needs that will never be satisfied. You will always need more provision, more interesting things to do, more fun to have, more money to spend. I know this but I am trying to help you remove that from your motivation for everything that you do.
You want cars and houses and other things that won’t ever satisfy when I want to give you the keys to the Kingdom.
You have a deep and significant relationship with Me and you get to do things of the Kingdom each and every day and this is what you want more than anything else. Why would you return to Egypt and seek after the slavery that held you previously? Did the Egyptians take better care of you than I do? Do they care about you and love you more than Me? Did they ever have your best interest at heart. You are believing what they are saying about you and about this world but that is not what I want for you. They are the epitome of this verse:
1 Timothy 4:2 NLT “These people are hypocrites and liars, and their consciences are dead.”
The Egyptians were following other gods, demons, who were telling them where power was. Even when I showed them where true power came from Pharoah would not let go of perceived power and he allowed his nation and people to be destroyed. He held onto the thoughts he wanted to be true rather than the ones that were true.
Look at what I am calling you to do. Sink into it. Receive it and know that the enemy will do everything in his power to keep you from going there and achieving your calling. The enemy will tell you that you have to satisfy the desires of the flesh while you are here. The enemy will tell you that nothing in this world will compare to heaven and so you need to enjoy things of this world as much as you can while you can because you will have heaven for all eternity. That is how he gets you to focus on this world and the things of this world so he can distract you so much that you walk away from heaven.
Live for heaven now! Live in heaven now as much as it is possible in this world.
I can give you the multitude of cattle on the hills (Psalm 50:10) but I often don’t because I want you to know that I am worth more than every single cow in this world. I am worth more than all the riches, more than all the things and experiences you think you want to have. You are doing as Paul did
Acts 26:14 ESV “It is hard for you to kick against the goads”
Kicking against the goads means to resist guidance or authority, often causing more harm to oneself, especially in the context of resisting God’s will.
I am giving you exactly what you asked for and it is ultimately what you want. Don’t walk away from it because you doubt for a moment if it is the right thing or if you will miss out on something in this world that is better. There is nothing better than Me and there is nothing better than to follow My ways and My will.
So I return to the very first question from this day’s verse…
What have you been chosen by the will of God to be?
Things of the past were leading you to this point right now where you can do that which I have called you to be. Don’t go back into what I gave you then….that did not satisfy you…that I gave you so that you could see the emptiness of it. Keep your eyes fixed on Me. I am the author and perfector of your faith (Hebrews 12:2).
You’ve got to let Me finish! I am moving as fast as you can handle. Let Me take you to the finish line!
