I believe this is a message to us from God, written from His perspective – Sherri
Hebrews 11:6 ESV “And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”
Do you believe I exist and that I reward those who believe in Me and seek Me in their daily lives?
Do you believe the Bible stories of My provision miraculously in the desert when the Israelites had no food or water? Do you believe that Jesus multiplied the bread and fed large crowds?
Do you believe that when the Israelites fought battles to take over the Promised Land or to maintain ownership of My land that I had given them that I actually backed them up and provided reinforcements to them when they needed more people to fight?
Do you believe the stories of the hailstones raining down on the enemy or the sounds of chariots blowing through the treetops so that the enemy was forced to run?
Do you believe these stories?
Do you believe they only happened long ago in faraway places or do you believe they are available to you today?
Do you desire to please Me?
Do you believe that I exist, not only as a concept but also as your active and very present God in the face of danger?
Do you believe that I reward you?
So many believe they work for Me. They believe they need to serve Me in order to gain My approval and intervention. They believe they have to earn something from Me but this is not what the Scriptures say is true. The Scriptures say that I want you to have faith (Hebrews 11:6), I want you to believe in Me (John 6:29), I want you to trust in Me (Proverbs 3:5), I want you to know that I search out My people so I can give them support (2 Chronicles 16:9). Yes, I want you to serve Me but not because I need you to serve Me. I do not need anything from you (Psalm 50:10). I want you to serve Me because it is what is good for you to do. I want you to love Me, not because I need love (although I do truly enjoy it) but because it is good for you to love Me.
Consider for a moment…do you believe in Me and do you believe that I reward you?
How you answer this will determine how you live your life and how much you are able to trust Me. If the answer is no, simply accept that and be honest with Me and let’s have a conversation about it.
I don’t expect you to do all the heavy lifting in our relationship. That is My job. Your job is to follow Me.
Prayer:
Lord, I would love to more fully understand and live the fullness of this verse…to believe in You and all that You are and to believe that You reward those who seek You. There is so much spoken out against You and so many doubts expressed about whether You truly take care of Your people or not and I want to be one of the people who knows that You take care of me and reward me because I believe in You and have faith in You. Please help me with this faith.
