January 27 – Daily Message – Matthew 7:7

Matthew 7:7 ““Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”

When you ask for what you think you want or what you think you should ask for, or what you think you can get, you do not get what you want. Either you ask for it and I give it to you, but it isn’t actually what you want or you ask and I do not give it to you because it is not actually what you want and I know that it will not satisfy you and so I do not provide it.

Looking at what you actually want is very challenging…but you have to keep trying.

First you have to peel back a number of layers:

  1. What you think you should want.
  2. What you think others will find acceptable for you to want.
  3. What you were told you should want.
  4. What you believe I will give you.
  5. What you believe I want for you.
  6. What you believe you deserve.
  7. What you believe you should ask for.
  8. What you should ask for so that you can benefit all those around you.
  9. What you think is possible in this world.

Once you get beyond all of these items you can actually start to see what you truly want to ask Me for. But then there is another step and block in your way. Trust.

When we start talking about what you really want, the risk level goes up exponentially. If you don’t actually accept or look at what you want, then you don’t have the risk of not getting it. There is an emotional component to asking for what you want….being willing to sit in the possibility that your deepest desires will never come to fruition. There is a faith component…being willing to believe that I am good and I want to give you good gifts and that I like to reward you (Hebrews 11:6).

In order to actually ask for what you want you have to walk through these different layers and the journey is a powerful journey. It can take 2 minutes, or it can take 40 years depending on how much you really want to get to the root of what you want.

Please, take some time and find someone who can help you walk through this process so that you can ask for what you want, know Me as I truly am and not who you were taught or believe I am, and receive what you truly want to ask for. Of course, Jesus is here to walk you through the process if that is who you desire to walk through it with you. In addition, there are many people who are also equipped to help with this. Ask Me to help you find them and I will. The clue that you have found the right person is that they truly believe in Jesus and only Jesus as the way the truth and the life. If they don’t believe this they are not the person to help you.

Prayer:

Lord, I would really like to know what I want, and I would love Your help walking through each of these steps so that I can know what I want enough to ask for it. Help me trust You more fully so that I can find what is hidden inside, buried deeper than I might like to believe it can be buried, that I want to ask for.

Amen.
