1 Kings 18:38 ESV “Then the fire of the LORD fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.”
This series over the last few days of Daily Messages has been here to deepen your belief in Me and to help you rely upon the amazing power I have available to My followers. If you think about all that I do each and every day to simply keep the world spinning and working the way it needs to in order to support life you will realize that what I need to do to impact you and your life is actually quite simple in comparison.
Just like you have over the last few days – imagine this situation. There has been a drought for a very long time. You have a sense that it is a spiritual event and yet you are not certain. Elijah invites you to the top of the mountain and you get to observe the people that serve Baal going out of their way to get him to pay attention to them. They even dance and cut themselves and nothing happens.
Then Elijah steps up and uses a large amount of water…which is in high demand right now…to cover the alter and the sacrifice. You wonder what he will have to do in order to get My attention and you see that He simply prays at the normal time for sacrifice. You wonder what will happen…
And you see fire fall from the sky. Not just a little bit of fire but fire strong enough to burn up even the stones from the altar and the dust…and you are reminded that you were made from the dust of the earth and you will return to the dust of the earth. At a single moment you feel the My power and the smallness of yourself and then realize that all this display of power was for one reason….to remind you that I am here with you at all times and in all ways and that I am real.
Then, a little while longer and the drought is reversed and life begins to return to normal. You realize that the drought was, in face, spiritual in nature and you realize that I have power over all things in the world including the weather and all that you need.
You have 2 choices. You can either fear Me and walk away, afraid for your life because I am so mighty and powerful or you can fear Me and take a step closer to Me and walk into My refuge and My strength (Psalm 91).
What choice do you want to make today? Do you want to walk up the mountain even though it looks scary or do you want to remain at the bottom of the mountain where you will feel safe but will miss out on the experience of a lifetime? (Exodus 19:16-20)
Believe in My words and all I tell you is true and possible in the Bible. Please don’t discount it to make yourself feel safer but to live a much less impactful life.
I am here, I am coming, and I will be here at all times. Come to Me.
