March 24 – Daily Message – Matthew 11:19

Matthew 11:19 ESV “The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘look at Him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is justified by her deeds.”

It is important to remember that, as a follower of Jesus, you will always receive criticism from Christians and non-Christians alike. I tell you this to make it easier for you to simply listen to Me and do as I ask and let the consequences of what I request fall to Me. It allows you to let go of what others say about you or think about you and simply do what you know is the best thing to do.

Do not worry what others say about you or what they think about you.

Being a Christian has never been easy. When it gets easy it is usually watered down so much that it is no longer Christianity, but it gets really easy when you fear Me, meaning, you care more what I think about you and what you do than what others think or say about you.

Of course, you have to balance this out with allowing iron to sharpen iron (Proverbs 27:11) so don’t discount everything people say, particularly if you know and trust them but, also, do not do what others tell you to do when it contradicts what I have told you to do. This goes very badly for people because you are prioritizing what a human being believes to be the right thing instead of prioritizing what I say to do. (1 Kings 13) I know it is tricky because people assume they do not hear Me correctly so the thing to do is to get really good at hearing Me so that you will be able to do as you are asked to do and then stay confident in what you have heard. Most people hear Me a lot better than they think, particularly when they are connecting to Me regularly and doing things like reading these Daily Messages.

When you listen to My voice through people who hear Me well, including the people that wrote the Bible you notice a certain cadence of My words and voice, and it makes it easier to hear it when you hear Me through your head, heart, or your being.

1 Corinthians 14:1 “Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.”

Desiring the gift of prophesy simply means you want to be able to hear Me well. This is something I want for every one of My children.

Take a step nearer to Me, do not be afraid of what I will ask of you, and pray to be able to hear Me so clearly that you will know whether to turn to the right or to the left in all that you do (Isaiah 30:21).
