Luke 3:18 NLT “John used many such warnings as he announced the Good News to the people.”
John spoke of warnings and of good news. He talked of them together and this was important for his message of the Messiah. In verses 3:7-8 he says
Luke 3:7-8 NLT “Who warned you to flee the coming wrath? Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Don’t just say to each other ‘We’re safe,’”
Have you ever noticed that after a few generations go by who have seen My power and might there becomes an attitude of entitlement. People start saying “Well God created us so therefore, it doesn’t matter what we did, it is His responsibility to take care of us.”.
This may be true, but it misses the point completely.
Life is not about Me taking care of you, making sure you have enough of whatever you want, and are happy and healthy. This is a wonderful byproduct of what is actually important, but it is not what life is about.
Life is about being in a relationship with Me, experiencing love with Me and with those I put in your life to care for. Sharing love with others, taking care of each other. Life is about relationships; it is not about things or activities. Things and activities are just a part of life, the real life, the life that actually means something, is the relationship.
Please don’t miss the fullness of life thinking that you are here to do something meaningful and huge, full of purpose and plans. Yes, that is an important part but the main thing you are here for is to know Me and to experience this incredible creation that I created and to know the One who created it. I know that sounds strange for Me to say, but it is true. There is no greater joy than to know Me.
The next level of joy is knowing the others I made in My image.
Please do not become complacent, thinking you can just ignore Me, ignore sin, ignore the poor that surround you, and ignore that love is the primary reason for life. Let’s not even talk about heaven and hell right now, that is another subject completely. Let’s just focus on the one thing that is being shared here….
Please do not be like an entitled child who thinks they deserve everything they have and have no gratitude for what they are given. Instead, be like the child who knows that without their parents provision they will simply not survive. Know that without Me you would not make it a day…and be grateful that I was with you for the whole day.
I don’t mean to sound at all harsh, but I do want to bring My people back to the truth and what is really going on. People who choose not to believe in Me are making a choice. I guarantee you that I have approached, wooed, courted, shaken up, and even given dreams and visions to every single person in the entire world that is more than enough for them to know Me fully and completely.
Live your life in a way that honors Me – starting by simply spending time with Me and knowing Me and loving Me. Start there and then let it spread out to all the other areas of life that exist.
Repent of your sins, don’t hold onto them. Forgive others for their sins, you don’t want any part of them and holding onto them doesn’t actually do any good.
Find freedom in the relationship that you and I have available to us!
