April 16 – Daily Message – 1 Corinthians 13:1 – Part 2

1 Corinthians 13:1 ESV “If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a ringing gong or a clanging cymbal.” Part 2

No, this does not mean that you do not put a murderer into jail. Of course you do. But you do not do it out of hatred, you do it out of compassion for them and for those they are a danger to.

Of course, this does not mean that you let everyone cross every boundary and not have any consequences, but you do not set boundaries from frustration and anger, you set them out of love for yourself, for others, and for the person who needs the boundary.

Of course, this does not mean that anything goes and you support every single choice every person makes, but it does mean that you love the person, be honest with them about how it is impacting them and try to help them make better choices.

Someone who is not able to set a boundary for themselves regarding their sexual choices may not have had anyone stand up for them in protection out of love and so they don’t even know what it means to be loved enough to say no to someone who wants to be with them sexually.

Someone who is promiscuous may have no idea that they are a child of the Most High King and, if they knew this, they would be able to stop seeking false love when they can find true love.

It is much easier to punish the behavior than it is to love the one who is doing the sin.

Romans 5:8 ESV “…but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Next time you are so angry with someone, or disappointed, or offended, or hurt by someone can you ask Me for help loving them. If you feel cursed, can you sent the curse back to the person as a blessing (Luke 6:28).

If not, there may be something within yourself that requires forgiveness and healing. Would you be willing to explore this first before trying to change the behavior of someone else (Matthew 7:5).

You can see in the Hebrew scriptures that the Israelites often had terrible consequence fall upon them because they worshipped other gods and walked away from them. Many see this a My vengeance, however, it is My love for them in that they need to experience what it is like to be outside of My love in order to know to come back to it. This is true of you also. Allow the natural consequences to occur but do not do it out of hatred, do it from deep love.

See also, that the New Testament shows an even better way…serving, sacrifice, and suffering for those whom we love and care deeply for.

Do not harden your hearts but enter My rest

Hebrews 3:13 ESV “But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.”

The consequence of disobedience is the loss of privilege like being able to enter into the Promised Land but that did not prevent the Israelites from entering into My love for all eternity.

Yes, I know this causes discomfort for many but when you realize how much I love you, that I love you more than you can imagine and that no matter what you do right or wrong I will love you…that all you prayers are, essentially, asking Me to show you that I love you…and when you truly find the path to receiving the fullness of My love for you, you will find that you do not have to change and influence everyone around you, you can simply bring out the best in them and help them in their weakness.

This is when true change and unity will come that will transform all the things in the world that you are praying for Me to do.

I believe this is a message to us from God, written from His perspective – Sherri
